speak up

so i just finished reading "We're Not Monsters" and wow...thats a very scary yet helpful book. it talks about alot of teen problems, things teens do and why they do it, and how to get help and make it stop. the things that got to me the most were teen killers, suicides, and infanticides...

it's really amazing at how many teens want to kill and injury other people. there are many different reasons for this, but the stories you read about are horrifying. as are the stories you hear about suicide. i almost started crying while reading about the suicide part because it was like reality hit...so many teens feel this way, and it's scary! did you know that more females than males try to commit suicide but more males succed? this is because girls use less intense methods such as cutting or hanging or poisioning, while guys go for guns. it really is a very scary thing. it's also very sad and amazing how many teen girls ditch their newborn babies. i think it's a very selfish and cruel thing to do. you were the one who had sex, you should be responsible for the consequences. ditcing the baby is the easy way out, a way to not have to deal with it. i also learned though that some girls are so in denial about being pregnant that they don't remember being pregnant, giving birth, or ditching the baby...sad isn't it?

the book also talked about juvenile sexual offenders, teens who have affairs with adults, and people who injure themselves. if you know anyone who you think might be going through ANY of these things,or you know that they are, please seek help with a trusted adult. you could save a life
